In spite of its rather drab façade, the Axa Hotel does provide a no-nonsense option with clean, comfortable accommodation at reasonable prices. Accessible via a passageway from the street, the small lobby has lots of mirrors and bright lights. It also has display cabinets with souvenirs for sale and a small seating area to the rear. The 138 functional guestrooms are reasonably sized and decorated using light, warm colours. Choose a room at the back as trams race past the front. The hotel offers a rich Continental buffet every morning in the bright, airy breakfast room, which is located on the ground floor. The large swimming pool and gym downstairs is popular with both locals and guests.
